Day 1 (Week 3) – Table Tennis Fitness

It’s Week 3 and we’re going to be changing things up with our Table Tennis Fitness! We will be working on our footwork!

Note: you will need a fitness ladder this week – they can be bought cheaply on Amazon!

If you watched last week’s Saturday Special, “3 Essential Tips You Need To Know To Get The Most Out Of Your Table Tennis Training” you will know the vital importance of footwork in table tennis – in case you missed that, follow this link to watch before we begin today’s exercise!

As you know, it is always good practice to do some stretching before starting today’s exercise. I recommend a quad and hamstring stretch before joining in (Find the quad stretch here and the hamstring stretch here!)

The exercise we will be doing today is a good go-to footwork drill, and one that we do regularly in Germany before training on the table starts.

Note: the drill is right foot in/out and then left foot in/out!

Try and aim for 3-4 sets of 3 reps each, adding a small break between each set to catch your breath – you may be surprised just how hard the exercises this week attack the cardio!

It may seem a little complicated at first if you have never done this exercise before, however I assure you that with a little practice at a slower speed, you will quickly get the hang of it!
