In the 2013-14 season Matthew played for New Milton in the Premier Division of the Bournemouth League and Waterside in the Premier Division of the Southampton League. He also played in the newly formed County Cadet squad representing Hampshire and was their top seed in the 2013-14 season gaining promotion to the Premier Division. Matthew was a member of the Hampshire County Junior team which gained promotion to Division 1 in the National County Championships and for Pompey in the Junior British League in Lilleshall, gaining promotion to Division 2a.

Matthew has entered fewer individual tournaments in 2014, to concentrate on improving his fitness and technique. As well as his match coach Phil Handy, Matthew has this year started regular training with England International Matt Ware. Matthew won the Hampshire Closed Men’s Doubles and the Gloucester 2* U15 tournament in March. In early 2014 Matthew also became U13 Hampshire Schools individual champion, winning his age category for the third successive year and subsequently reached the quarter final stage of the ESTTA U13 Individual National Finals. Matthew also qualified for the ETTA U14 individual National Finals and won the U15 title in the Bournemouth league.
