Day 5 (Week 8) – Table Tennis Fitness

As today is the last day of Week 8’s Table Tennis Fitness here on the blog, I thought we would make way for the weekend with one of my favorite exercises to help build leg strength and speed!

Squat Jumps are great for working on our explosive strength – something that is vital to help improve the speed of our footwork in table tennis.

It’s also tough on the cardio side as it makes the heart pump just that extra bit harder than regular squats, which is exactly what we want if we want to improve our overall stamina and be able to train/play for longer periods of time.

Fitness Goal: aim to perform 3-4 sets of 15 reps for today’s exercise!

Tip: squat jumps are tough on the whole body, yet they are especially difficult on the quadriceps. If you feel yourself getting too tired from bending into the ‘squat position’ then I recommend focusing more on the actual jump, as it’s the explosive power we are really looking to work on!
