For today’s exercise we are going to be focusing on a new lat stretch!
The lats are located on the backside of your body and connect the arms to the vertebral column. They also help stabilize and protect the spine.
In other words, they are extremely important not only in our general health, but also in table tennis. This is because the lats can provide power into our shots, as well as keeping our spine safe whilst we play.
Fitness Goal: try and stretch each side for 10-15 seconds before completing the exercise.
Tip: As mentioned in the video, if you feel you can’t hold the stretch for that long, simply return to the ‘ready position’ and rest. You can then stretch again when you feel ready!
